Takeia (pronounced Ta-ki'-ya) (born J&J Moonlight) is out of the first registered Tamaskan litter born in the US.  She fits the breed standard set by the TBA for Aatu Tamaskan females, and displays the perfect "wolf" mask.  She is one of the foundation dogs for expansion of the Aatu Tamaskan in the US.  She was the only female Tamaskan puppy born out of J&J Kennels two litters (June 2007 & June 2008) that has passed her hip testing.  I am grateful for her being healthy, and I attribute a part of that to raw feeding.  In fact, other than a little cold in May 2008, I've not had any health issues with her.

She has been one of the best things I've ever done in life.  She's so much fun, and makes me laugh every day.  She's so full of personality and so smart, and absolutely beautiful to say the least.  She talks to me every day too! She loves everyone and everything.  Having had her from the time she could leave her litter has really allowed us to bond (she's my shadow), and I wouldn't trade her for anything!!!!  She's my Number One Girl!

Height:  25"
Weight:  78lbs.

Takeia has gold (not yellow) colored eyes with an amber circle arond them, but in pictures they look yellow. Her mother has the yellow eyes, so she should carry the gene for her offspring to have the amber/gold/yellow eyes.

TEMPERAMENT/PERSONALITY:  Takeia has always been my "energizer bunny".  She absolutely loves people, animals, (basically anything that breathes) and going for rides in the car.  She knows the words GO, RIDE, PARK, HOME ...  the day she can spell, I am really in trouble!!!  she travels very well, never sits down and is always looking out every window. She loves it!!!She has always been my "greeter" and gregarious one. She has calmed down tremendously as she's gotten older.  She loves to play and is very willing to please, but does show her stubborn side when she doesn't want to do something (nothing major).  She has always been the more submissive type with other dogs and just wants to love everyone/everything and be loved in return.  She is EXTREMELY smart (which is a breed trait).  She was always my destructive one too (wood, magazines, trim).  She always hated the crate, though now she sleeps in it whenever she is tired and at night.   She's just always excited when we go anywhere and loves to be out.  She is not a barker; only barks at other dogs to play (or when she sees them on the road) or at the vacuum extension.  She is a talker though at times.  And she is definitely not a guard dog, though she does have protective instincts.  She has growled 3 different times, but not at anyone specific; just in situation.  She loves to have her companion, Dakari, around and is much happier with a canine friend to keep her company.

4/29/10 - I am so happy with how well Takeia has developed.  I took her to the vet today, and she is in PHENOMENAL condition!  Takeia has never been an easy keeper.  In fact, many days I would make her sit and I would hand-feed her to make sure she ate.  (Many times I left food, it was gone in the afternoon, and I thought she ate it, only to find out she buried it and dug it up later... and usually not the same day... lol.)   Before Takeia's pregnancy, her consistent weight was 68-69 pounds.  After and since her pregnancy, she has maintained wonderfully and never lost weight.  In fact, she weighed in today at 76 1/2 pounds ... about 8 pounds more than previously.  And she's not being fed or eating any more than before she got pregnant.  She's just grown into herself (almost 3 come June) and is very healthy.  In fact, she's in the best condition she's ever been!!!  Post pregnancy, she also never lost her hair, sheen to her coat, or anything.

I am very grateful for my girl.  My vet is just as impressed.

Speaking of my vet, after 2 bad experiences, I am so grateful to have found her.  She and I have developed a wonderful friendship, and she is a breeder too.  So, I take her opinions and experience into serious consideration.  In fact, when Takeia was delivering, I spoke with her at least 5 or 6 times.  She is always on call for me, and has given me her home and cell numbers.  She has a wonderful, giving heart and has gone (IMO) above and beyond!  She is affectionately known as Aunt Nancy (to Takeia and Dakari anyway).
