JUNGLE BOOK LITTER - BLOG
updated 11/4/11

10/8/11 - Pups are two weeks old today, and I am VERY happy with their development.  The first (Bagheera) opened her eyes at 10 days, and the others followed shortly after (with Shere-Khan's opening at 12 days).   They each weigh over 3 pounds and have gained steadily.  Andy has been a great mom and very attentive.  They are a quiet little bunch and I've actually gotten sleep. Laughing  I am VERY happy with how their coats are beginning to change and I believe they will all be nicely masked.  They all have a nice lighter undercoat, and Akela and Shere-Khan will probably have more of Dakari's coat/coloring as their undercoats are grey/silver.  Bagheera and Baloo are beginning to show more silver as well but have more of a tan/sable undercoat at the moment.

We expanded their area by 2 feet yesterday and of course now that they can see, they are moving more to follow mom.  The next weeks should bring some very visible changes for the Jungle Book litter... and I can't wait to see how they develop.

On a side note, the rest of the pack has been great having puppies in the house.  Takeia is excited (of course, she's a mom) and Mystique has been very curious but gentle. She whimpers along with the pups when they make noise as if she wants to make things better.

10/27/11 --   I am sooooooooooo pleased with this litter. They have incredible temperaments, very laid back like both their parents.  Bagheera and Shere-Khan are very similar in conformation and will be more like Dakari.  Akela is the lightest and is a silver/wolf-grey. Shere-Khan (who I am keeping for future breeding) is also on the lighter side.  However, they ALL have the silver/wolf-grey undercoat and Bagheera and Baloo will phase out like both their parents as well, though may be a bit more like their mom.  They are a happy bunch and keep themselves busy. They've been so quiet, I have actually gotten some sleep with them.  The started on raw food at 3 1/2 weeks and I'll be introducing bone to them within the next week.  They will be ready to go to their new homes after November 19.

11/4/11  ---  I am so happy with this little bunch of coconuts.  They are really starting to come into their coloring and developing their personalities.  I believe there is potential to be service and/or therapy dogs. They all have a silver/wolf-grey undercoat but have their mom's lower leg pigment and black toes (except for Akela who has dad's coloring). They are doing great with paper training and have basically taught themselves (I just put the paper down). They are all affectionate and smart!!!  Lots of potential with this group!!!!  And their personalities are what I had hoped... a nice combo between mom and dad.

AKELA has a black shield on her chest and is a fluff-ball.  She has the thickest and fullest coat of any pup produced to date.  She weighs about 10 1/2 pounds at just under 6 weeks.  She is a quieter, more laid back one but loves affection.

BAGHEERA is an absolute love! She loves to be held and is a bundle of energy and joy.  She's a very happy puppy and displays it in her energy. She is smaller and weighs a little over 9 pounds.  She has a great conformation with smaller head and ears and a narrower chest.  She is very eager to please and a little love.  She's very much like Shere-Khan in conformation but a little darker and smaller.

BALOO is another love.  He will just look up at you and almost smile as he wags his tail.  I like the way his face is developing.  He has a very kind eye and they are more slanted like Dakari.  He is a little more independent but loves to bound around like Bagheera.  He knows his name and is very smart (first one to pick up on paper training). He is very eager to please and just an all around pleasure!  Baloo weighs 10lbs 10oz.

SHERE-KHAN will remain with me as potential future stud use.  He is really coming into his pigment and has the 'scent spot' on the tail.  He's got a nice conformation like Dakari (smaller head, ears and narrower chest) and is very laid back.  He almost 'studies' you when he looks at you.  He is a cuddle bug though and loves crawling up in my lap.  He was the first I chose when born and has developed nicely.  He weighs 10lbs 14oz.
